The Heritage, Excell
Handcrafted, tin-lined copper cookware made in Portsmouth. Born from over two decades of copper-spinning expertise. Buy once, cook forever.
The question was simple: if you can spin copper to exacting tolerances, why not make something people can use for life?
The Heritage, Excell is a premium British cookware brand producing handcrafted, tin-lined copper pans made in Portsmouth. It is the consumer-facing expression of Excell Metal Spinning Ltd's copper-spinning expertise – the same workshop, the same craft, applied to cookware built to outlast the person who buys it.
Launched in December 2025, the brand draws on a tradition of copper work that predates the brand itself. Excell Metal Spinning had been producing copper spun pieces for years before The Heritage, Excell was formally launched. The commercial success and quality of that work made the case for a dedicated brand. Every pan is made individually by hand. No two are identical.
How every pan is made
Hand Metal Spinning
Each pan begins as a flat disc of pure copper, shaped over a former on a lathe by hand. The spinning process forms a seamless vessel with a surface that reflects the craftsperson's touch – marks and texture that are evidence of handcraft, not imperfection.
Hand Tin Lining
The interior of every pan is lined with tin, applied by hand over an open flame. This is a traditional technique entirely distinct from the sprayed or bonded linings used in mass-produced cookware. The result is a naturally non-stick, non-reactive surface that has been used in fine kitchens for centuries.
Re-Tinning Service
When the tin lining eventually wears – which, with proper care, takes many years – the pan can be re-lined rather than replaced. The Heritage, Excell supports re-tinning, making this a genuinely permanent kitchen investment. A pan that never becomes waste.
The material that professional kitchens have always known
Copper conducts heat 25 times faster than stainless steel and five times faster than cast iron. Adjust the flame and the pan responds immediately – with a precision that no other common cookware material can match. It is why copper has been the choice of serious cooks for centuries, and why it remains the material of choice in professional kitchens where thermal control matters.
The tin lining is naturally non-stick and non-reactive with food. Unlike chemical coatings, it requires no special maintenance, no silicone utensils, and no replacement cycle. Cook in it, wash it, use it again.
Made in Portsmouth. Entirely.
